The Trumpeter Swans

Trumpeter Swans are one of my favorite birds. When I actively worked as a Veterinary Nurse I got to work up close and personal with them. It was quite an amazing experience. As a photographer, I have always wanted to get pictures of them in the wild but never had the opportunity until a few weeks ago. I just happened to be sitting in my camper and saw these 2 come across the my view. I grabbed my camera and slowly made my to them, trying to get as close as possible without scaring them off.

I have been on this lake for over 10 years and this is my first time seeing them so I was pretty excited. I was even more excited when the next images started to unfold in front of me. I love being at the right place at the right time.

Trumpeter Swans are North America’s largest and heaviest flying bird. Because of their massive size, they need at least 100 yards in order for them to take off. I hope you enjoyed my pictures.

Puppy Session with Pepper

Meet Pepper, a tiny little Mini Dachshund. She is around 5-6 months old and has a whole lot of personality. Photos were taken at Round Lake in Frederic Wi. During my editing process I usually throw a few black and whites in for my clients but I ended up doing a lot of black and white photos with Pepper because her unique markings made for some great contrast.

The color photos turned out great too but I think the black and whites are my favorite. We also did part of Pepper’s photo session on a boat. This was her first time on one and she absolutely loved it. How cute is she in that little life jacket.

2022 Senior Photo Session with Miss Adriana

Happy Birthday to this beautiful, young lady. Adriana turns 18 today. I have been taking her pictures for many years so I have to put up some of the early ones too….sorry Adri. This fall she will be joining the Nursing program at North Dakota State University. Good luck on all your future life journeys. Can’t wait to see what you do!

For her senior photos, we went to 3 different locations. The first one was on my sisters property on Grey Cloud Island.

The second location was at Harriet Island. We did some photos around the river and then went on my friends steamboat located right on the river. It is a Bed and Breakfast so check it out if you are looking for a fun place to stay. https://www.covingtoninn.com/

The last location was on Adriana’s parents property right around sunset. I’m not a big fan of direct sunlight during the day for lighting but I LOVE sunset. The bright light from the day turns magical towards the evening hours.

Pregnancy Session: Cadwell Family

Congratulations to the Cadwell family! They added on baby #5 on Tuesday May 3rd, a beautiful baby boy which they have not named yet.

Photo session was at the Cottage Grove Ravine Park and we started with the family photos first.

Then we tried to do some of just the kids but Soraya wasn’t really getting into the picture groove. Those boys absolutely love their sister. It was cute seeing them comfort her when she started to cry. Melted my heart. Even though she was sad, the pictures are still adorable.

We let the kids play at the park while I took Casi to do some photos by herself and then we added in her hubby, Chad.

Mommy and Soraya special moment:

This park had a playground so we had to let the kids have fun after they did such a great job with the photo shoot.

Round Lake Luck, WI: Charlie vs Goose

Charlie tried making some new friends last weekend but I don’t think they wanted to be his friend.

I was able to get some great shots once Charlie lost focus and realized he wasn’t going to reach them, well he could of if he tried but the water was pretty cold.
